GUKPT MY MAIN AIM AS FAR AS THE GUKPT EVENTS ARE CONCERNED, IS TO GET AS MANY NORTHERN POKER STARS MEMBERS INTO THESE PRESTIGIOUS EVENTS BY HOSTING QUALIFIERS THAT MAKE THE ENTRY FEE TO THE GUKPT EVENTS AFFORDABLE. There are an ever-increasing number of players from our region that are making the step up to a higher level of poker. These players are entering tournaments in the G Casino in Blackpool and the poker room at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, to use a couple of examples. I have organised tournaments, which have given some of our members, Gary Clucas and Ian Tweedie, seats in the Main Event of the Newcastle leg of the GUKPT as prizes. Tony Tomlinson won his seat in the Main Event of the Blackpool Leg of the GUKPT and he was joined by Mike Farrer who was sponsored by Northern Poker Stars into this event for as a reward for being our most loyal player in our first year. Other members of Northern Poker Stars, Kevin Steward and Joan Lawley have bankrolled themselves into the Blackpool leg of the GUKPT and Kevin also played the Bolton leg of the GUKPT. Kevin has cashed out at GUKPT Blackpool, being placed in 15th and at Bolton, Kevin finished just outside the cash in 20th place with the top 18 getting paid. I FULLY EXPECT THAT IT WILL NOT BE TOO LONG UNTIL A MEMBER OF NORTHERN POKER STARS FINISHES WITH A VERY LUCRATIVE CASH PRIZE IN A MAJOR LIVE TOURNAMENT With this in mind, I am going to run a live GUKPT qualifier once every 2 months. This will be for a maximum of 30 players with an entry fee of £75. The winner on the night will receive a seat in the GUKPT leg of his / her choice. If there are enough entrants to justify a cash reward for 2nd and 3rd placed finishers, then these places will be paid out too, but predominantly this is a qualifier for a GUKPT seat and I WILL NOT BE AMENDING THE PRIZE PACKAGE. For this tournament to proceed, I need to have a minimum of 20 players. You can reserve your seat by contacting me by email or telephone. The next event will be held at the Cleator Moor Celtic Club, Cleator Moor, 7pm start. On the Friday night before the tournament, if there are insufficient players for the tournament to proceed, i.e., less than 20 players, then I shall have no alternative than to cancel the event. Seats will be sold on a first come, first served basis, and players paying in advance will have precedence over those reserving seats.
